Lucy Jeans is a Miniature Australian Shepherd breeding business based in Lake City, MI. The dogs are owned, handled and bred by Dara Hoekwater. All colors are expected. All my dogs are ASDR registered.

Hello! Welcome to Lucy Jeans!
My name is Dara, I am 22 years old and I am a Christian.
I live in beautiful Northern Michigan with my husband, little son and another baby on the way. I have always loved animals and dreamed of owning my own. And that is where my story starts.....
Years ago when I was still living at home I had convinced my parents that I could afford to take care of and feed a dog. And I knew just what dog I wanted, for our family dog had just had puppies. I had picked out the only girl of that litter and named her Sweetie Pie. I was 15 years old and in love with a mutt. I was ecstatic! But my dream only lasted a short time.
Four days before my 16th birthday, my Sweetie Pie was hit by a truck. Because of her injuries I had to put her down. I was broken. But while at the veterinarian clinic one of the staff told me she could tell that Sweetie Pie had had a lot of love in her year of life, and I knew then that I did not want to stop giving love. So soon after that day I started looking for another dog. But month after month passed, and I still did not find anything that pulled my heart.
At that time I was working for a family friend, and they owned and bred dogs. They knew about what had happened to my dog, and encouraged me to get into breeding
After about a year of discussion and looking around I decided that an Australian Shepherd was the dog I wanted to have. However, with this being my first go at dog breeding, I wanted something small. And Miniature Australian Shepherds immediately became the breed for me. They have the same attributes of an full-size Aussie, just in a smaller size!
I picked up my gentleman and lady soon after, and I am definitely in love! Since then the love has spread. I have already had many litters of puppies and absolutely adored having each and every one of them! I am so excited to see what God has in store for every litter!
